The Old Mill on Lustica Farm Stay – Montenegro

Bay of Kotor beauty meets 300 years of tradition at The Old Mill on Lustica.

Ideally positioned on a lookout point on the peninsula, The Old Mill on Lustica has epic views of Kotor Bay’s blue waters and spiraling mountains. It is an ideal getaway for a couple or friends. Guests experience centuries-old village tradition at this olive oil farm and the beaches and coastal life of Montenegro.

The Old Mill has a 300-year tradition of growing and pressing their own olives. It remains one of few working olive presses on the peninsula today. With so much history and experience, the Old Mill was featured on Jeff Corwyn’s Ocean Treks television program in 2017.

Jovan manages the farm with his family. A gracious host and life-long native of Lustica, he enjoys helping guests experience his homeland. He can help guests find the perfect beach, adventures, and share with them firsthand about Montenegro and her organic farm tradition.

Included in this farm stay experience are organic foods and beverages from The Old Mill. Guests will enjoy farm to table traditional dishes, cheese, olive oil, and homemade juices, wine, or brandy. This is the full cultural immersion. The Old Mill on Lustica holds out ideal nature, family farm, organic food, and hospitable people.

  1. So glad we ended up staying on the peninsula...rather than staying on the busy coastline or in packed Kotor.

A really beautiful location on a lovely stretch of the Peninsula with amazing views! Jovan was a great host, and we loved staying at his old family home. The food – lots of it from the farm – was excellent, as was the cherry rakija and homemade wine and olives. We were so glad we ended up staying on the peninsula and spent our days exploring its lovely little beaches rather than staying on the busy coastline or in packed Kotor.

  2. Old Mill is ideally located with access to Kotor, Tivat, and Lovcen National Park

The old mill is a beautiful farm stay with an impressive olivepress where you should definitely take a look! We were taken care of properly with good food and a clean room. We went to see the sunset every night at the nice view from the farm.

This farm is ideally located to visit multiple locations including Kotor, Tivat and the amazing national park Lovcen.

  3. Quiet and peaceful

This is a beautiful spot overlooking the water with simple but nice accommodation. Great hikes and running routes are nearby, and beaches just a drive away. It’s a good place to get away from it all if that’s what you’re looking for–very quiet and peaceful–although a bit harder if you’re hoping to be in the midst of Kotor’s bustle or don’t have a vehicle (I would strongly recommend one if you stay here!). Fine for a couple in need of a few days respite, a group of friends looking to spend some quality time together, or someone just needing peace and quiet.

  4. Lovely hosts. Excellent meals. Amazing views.

Jovan and his parents were lovely hosts for our three-day stay at the old mill. The farm is an interesting operation and the food sourced here provided excellent meals. We enjoyed our stay and the opportunity it gave us for leisurely exploration of the Lustica Penninsula. There we found good hiking routes and amazing views of the Adriatic and Kotor Bay.

  5. Great location to enjoy the beauty of the area

Beautiful and quiet location overlooking the sea with lovely sunsets and access to some hiking trails. Old town Kotor and Tivat are accessible from this location but do require a taxi or vehicle. Our lovely host, Jovan was happy to provide driving service. Simple, clean accommodations with private entrance and delicious local home cooked meals make this a great stay to enjoy the beauty of the area. Must try the homemade brandy!

  6. Perfect place to enjoy and explore Kotor Bay and beaches then escape the crowds

We had a lovely 3 night stay at the Old Mill. It is the perfect place to enjoy and explore the Kotor Bay and beaches but to get away from the crowd and tourists afterwards. Very nice panoramic view from the terras on the Kotor bay!
Jovan and his family are very welcoming and prepare delicious home made food and wine.
Although Rose Beach is only 5km away, I would recommend to have a car to get to the Old mill, the local beaches, and to explore the Kotor Bay.

  7. Great place to stay on Lustica!

We had a wonderful few days at the Old Mill. Beautiful location with amazing views and perfect for exploring the Lustica peninsula. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Jovan and his family were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. Great home cooked food everyday. If you’re looking for a place to stay on Lustica don’t hesitate to book here!

  8. Highly recommend a visit here when visiting the coast

A great place to end our trip! We arrived just in time to enjoy an amazing sunset and a delicious meal from Jovan and his family. They were so friendly and attentive. I highly recommend you visit this location on your journey through Montenegro!

  9. The history. The views. Just a wonderful stay!

Such great history here at this house with this family! The views alone are worth every penny. Having breakfast outside overlooking the coast was just icing on the cake. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

  10. Wonderful!

The Old Mill was a fitting last stop/stay on our group trip…wonderful hospitality, unique history, delicious food (dinner and breakfast), stunning views, and just an overall lovely place. Enjoyed our visit, hope to return!

  11. Delightful spot overlooking the sea

Jovan and his family made us feel very welcome on their farm. A delightful spot on overlooking the sea. Make sure you book to eat with them, their homemade wine is also very good!

  12. Nice views & welcoming hosts

We enjoyed staying at the Old Mill. Beautiful views, great (selfmade) food&wine and hospitality. We even stayed an extra night! Our 4 year old daughter loved the goats and chicken. Jovan was away but his mother showed us the old mill and cooked a very nice meal for us.
    We had a wonderful stay!

  13. Breathtaking views. Quiet neighborhood.

Lustica is perfectly situated on the Bay of Kotor. Although it’s a bit of a hike to get to most restaurants and beaches, the views from the Old Mill are breathtaking. We rented out both cottages and appreciated the quiet neighborhood, our hosts hospitality and learning about their family’s history. Jovan’s parents were a delight, the food amazing and his father greeted my father every morning with a shot of his homemade rakija.

  14. Fantastic food, views, and brandy!

Jovans family gave us a very warm welcome to their home. The food (we had both breakfast and dinner) was great, always fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden, goat milk and other fresh produce including the really delicious home-made brandy!
The views are fantastic and the well-maintained terraced olive tree farmland is impressing. It is amazing to see how these people still maintain their land as farmland in an area where every lot is transformed into resorts, hotels and holiday cottages.

  15. Our stay at The Old Mills was wonderful!

Our stay at Old Mill was wonderful. There is the great view and the nice walk down to the beach to enjoy swimming. All the meals breakfasts and suppers were amazing, tasty and plenty of food. This kind family are gracious hosts. Our girls enjoyed seeing and interacting with the animals, Odlicno vrijeme.
