Prevalis Nature Cottage and Family Vineyard Near Lake Skadar – Montenegro

A centuries old micro winery with newly built cottage designed for the views

After years of planning, dreaming, and a lot of hard work, Marko has built something magical. The Prevalis Nature Cottage near Lake Skadar sits at the peak of the Djurisic family vineyards and micro-winery. Views from the open floor cottage bring guests into nature 24/7. Whether in the bedroom, the living area, the kitchenette, or the terrace, the mountainscape will offer the chance for travelers to be still and take it all in.

Marko built this cottage using a zip line trolley to transfer all building materials up the hill. This was part of his commitment to build a secluded place that provided privacy for guests and respect the natural environment. While there is parking below, the cottage is accessible only by a walking path. Everything was carefully selected and crafted from locally sourced materials to handmade furniture.

Marko and his family will do everything possible to make your holiday one you will remember for years to come. They are eager to help guests learn about the history and culture through the eyes of a local family. 1. Just WOW!

We stayed with Marko at his Djurisic Family Estate while he was finishing up this cottage, and he took us up to take a look at it. All we can say is WOW. It is stylishly furnished and the views are even more beautiful than in the photos. We drank tea with mint from his garden on the cottage terrace and basked in the serenity of it all. We would love to stay here on our next trip to Montenegro!

  2. Wonderful stay. Amazing views. Great host.

Our 1st visit to Montenegro began with a wonderful stay with Marko at this new Prevalis cottage. We booked both the upstairs and downstairs suites. They are beautifully done, very comfortable and the views are amazing. We had breakfast every morning and a wonderful family dinner one evening. Marko’s sister was also our tour guide for a boat tour on Skadar Lake. The best part was Marko’s hospitality and his eagerness to share his love and knowledge of Montenegro.

  3. Absolutely unforgettable!

Staying at Marko’s beautiful Prevalis Nature Cottage far exceeded our expectations. We really didn’t know what to expect in terms of what we might do while we were in the Skadar Lake district, but it seemed like there was nothing that he would not do for us. The home cooked food was delicious and portions were huge, so much so that we asked to have them reduced so we would not waste any. (We were assured to to worry that there were plenty of animals that would take care of that). Marko’s wine was also very good and having a micro winery that has been in the family for 500 years makes you feel almost like going back in time. One highlights was spending a day on the lake with his sister Marina who has her own boat charters. The lake is amazing and there are many species of birds that inhabit it. Marina was super warm and friendly and full of knowledge. Another highlight was traveling around the outskirts of the lake with Marko as he showed us multiple views and old villages, castles and refreshing swimming spots, while teaching us about Montenegrin history, culture, landscape and people. He is a wealth of information and a kind, compassionate person and we felt that we began as guest/host and ended as friends. He also shared with us some magical secret spots that were off the map and offered us a much richer perspective than your average tour. His cottage is superbly built and the attention to detail is what you would expect in a quality stay. We were very comfortable and the views from the deck watching the sunset were breathtaking. Views of the mountains were stunning. All in all we would rate this stay very highly, but more importantly Marko made us feel like part of the family. I hope one day he comes to visit us so we can share the same hospitality.

  4. A special place with a special host

We stayed two nights at the Prevalis cottage. What a perfect house! Of course Marko himself designed it and made it exactly as he wished, and the result thus shows! A very comfortable relaxing house in good taste with a great view too. Amazing what Marko has achieved here. We were treated on delicious and fresh food and tasty home-made wine. And don’t forget to spend some time talking with Marko about life and everything! He made our stay even more special. Makes me wish to move to this location too. We hope to come back again to this lovely place.
