Upon arriving in Skopje, capital city of the Republic of Macedonia, we strolled along a pedestrian walkway eager to find dinner. We continued our path after filling our stomachs we could hear various styles of music all coming from a series of cafes. Each café we passed seemed to hold a growing number of customers. As dusk began to set in and our legs continued, the lights of Skopje’s center began to glow. Overlooking the statue of Alexander the Great is a 1937 historic building with a sign: London Bed & Breakfast. The name of this fairly new accommodation fits the establishment from the door to inside the rooms – a step into London itself. Look for the red phone booth on the patio to find the reception door. The winding staircase through the hallway to the rooms reminds me of a historic apartment building in the city. The rooms are finely decorated with a London urban feel with all the necessary amenities. Our junior suite could easily accommodate a family or couples getaway. The location of this Bed & Breakfast is perfectly positioned in the center of the nightlife only steps away from numerous cafes, stores and shopping. It has the best view of Skopje’s center which is currently being renovated. See Skopje 2014 for a peak into magnitude that will be the city’s center. A short five minute walk away is the river with more cafes along its banks. Rent and ride one of the B&B bikes to all the nearby sites Skopje has to offer.
We were met with prestige service from the moment we entered. The hotel holds reserved parking in a nearby city garage, which the staff is pleased to valet. Since this is an old apartment building with only stairs (no elevator), the front desk will personally carry luggage to the rooms. The eagerness to provide and help with any of our requests provided a touch of luxury with the comfort.
Not only did the location and service meet well above our expectation, we could not get enough of the irresistible food. The breakfast’s combination of savory, sweet and healthy choices satisfied us with complete excellence. We complimented our fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee with homemade sausage and two egg plate along with a ham and cheese omelet. Our boys couldn’t get enough of the homemade sausage, so we had to order more. The cup of fresh fruit (berries and bananas) in milk with chia seed and local honey sweetly delighted my taste buds with every bite. For an experience of fine service, delectable food and minutes away from the life of Skopje, stay in the London Bed & Breakfast. We look forward to returning.
Special thanks to London B&B for the photos.
