Negroponte Resort Eretria is named after the ancient city of Chalkida, which was called “Negroponte” in the Venetian era. The coastal resort on the island of Evia, surrounded by pine trees, is in perfect harmony with its blissful natural environment. On our arrival at the Negroponte Resort in Eretria, we were warmly welcomed by the ever-helpful Eddie, who would not let me lift a finger to get my luggage to my room. His warm smile was the perfect beginning for our family retreat. The front desk staff were also friendly and helpful, as you would expect at a 5-star resort.WiFi is available throughout the public areas of the resort and in your room, which I found to be impressive given its scale. Our accommodation was a two-room junior suite and consisted of king bed in the master bedroom with an adjacent sleeping/parlor area, bathroom and generous balcony with a garden view. The soft pillow-top mattress made it easy to have sweet dreams of Greek honey, yogurt and figs. 😉Close by the outdoor pool is a fitness room, sauna (for a nominal fee) and a heated indoor pool. If you want more than just a pool, you will find opportunities to play tennis, basketball, football and more. Those who are looking for something a little more relaxing can simply go for a walk on a marked trail under pine trees along the sea.All these activities can create an appetite and restaurant options at Negroponte Resort nurtures the traditional Greek cuisine by offering healthy, authentic, uncomplicated and tasty dishes. The in-house bakery and pastry preparation provides fresh selection of homemade breads and sweets. There are two restaurants on the resort – Pool & Snack Bar and Levante Restaurant with a Veranda.Overlooking the rustic grounds and beaches, all rooms and suites exude an aura of romance and enchantment. As in happily ever after fairy tales, guests experience a respite and family bonding time in a relaxed-paced haven at Negroponte Resort Eretria.
