Just 20 km north of Tirana stands the largest big wall in Albania and possibly in all of the Balkans. Towering over the canyon and reservoir below, Bovilla provides great views. More importantly for people that see rocks differently though, Bovilla offers climbing for all ages and ability levels. From beginners looking for their first time climbing on real rock, to experts looking to push their limits on 7c+. There are 17 routes here under 7a and four over. Amazing climbing experience!
Wow what an introduction to outdoor climbing. Vincent and I had never climbed outdoors before, but we fell in love with it when Elion took us to Bovilla Canyon. Elion was professional, we felt safe at all times. The trip was full of fun climbing and conversation. It was an amazing experience to climb with someone so dedicated to fostering the climbing community in Albania!

I was an absolute beginner when it comes to outdoor climbing (and I’ve only done indoor climbing twice) i was surprised to learn that there were actually routes available for my level. Elion was extremely patient and nurturing. The climb was fulfilling and the view of the area was breath taking. Apart from learning to climb and tying knots, i had a free Albanian language and culture crash course. I had only one day in Tirana and I am glad this is what I chose to do.
