Bijelo Polje Mountain Hut on Mount Bjelasica – Montenegro

Austrian mountain hut in Northern Montenegro for Adventurers

The Bijelo Polje Mountain Hut on Mount Bjelasica sits perched above the largest city in northern Montenegro–Bijelo Polje. On the other side of the hut, the rolling peaks of Biogradska Gora National Park dot the landscape. This Austrian style mountain hut invites adventurers to escape into the mountains for a time or to expand their Biogradska Gora National Park or Northern Montenegro hut-to-hut adventures.

Now functioning year round, adventurers can access the hut by hiking up from Ravna Rijeka Village, by MTB, or by 4×4. Once there, the traveler is surrounded by quiet, nature’s beauty by day, and a mesmerizing star-filled planetarium at night.

The Bijelo Polje Mountain Hut has a large open floor area for eating, games, etc. The kitchen and bathrooms are on the ground floor along with a spacious wrap-around terrace.  All rooms are on the second floor, where there are configurations with two beds (3) and the same format with a loft where 3 additional people can sleep (4). During the summer, farm to table national foods are available  from the neighboring katun. Food is brought in from a local provider when the katun is not working.

  1. Wonderful two-day trek on Mount Bjelasica, amazing hosts!

We have just returned from a wonderful two-day trek on Mount Bjelasica, with an overnight stay in the mountain hut. We were warmly greeted by Dimitri, who made us feel at home right away. Dimitri provided everything we were looking for: a nice place to spend the night, a gorgeous evening dinner, and a fantastic breakfast.
Dimitri and his friend Filip moreover were very warm and open, and were very good company for the evening spent at the hut. They moreover made knowledgeable recommendations for our hike back, which brought us to very beautiful valleys and tops. We certainly hope to see them again when we come back to the region !

@ Dimi & Filip: thank you very much for everything !!!

  2. Great mountain hut!

This was our 1st night in Montenegro in July and the beginning of our H2H in Biogradska Gora. Philip met us at the train station and drove us to the mountain hut. With Dimitrij and their friend they prepared us a delicious tasty dinner. I still remember the coleslaw.
We had a very nice evening with them. Rooms are very comfortable. Everything is in wood and bed linen is white as in hotels.
Their project is great. It should be wonderful also during winter, with snow.
I would love to go back to spend a few nights there.
Enjoy this beautiful place before it’s getting full of mountaineers!
