  1. Senica katun is awesome. Gracious host, excellent food, and beautiful scenery.

This katun is outstanding. The brothers Zeljko and Miso are extremely gracious hosts. From their welcoming to their farewell they made you feel like family. The food that Miso prepared was absolutely wonderful, authentic, tasty, and plenty on the table at all times. They even prepared one of their local dishes with a twist offered up by us to try. Fished in the pond and did really well, Zeljko is a very good teacher. We laughed and talked and ate til we were about to bust. So relaxing and peaceful. Can’t wait to come back for another visit.

  2. Wonderful place !

Our family had an unforgettable stay here in August. The two brothers were exceptionally friendly and the food was amazing. What a great chef! We stopped here for one night on our H2H hike. But we could have stay longer.
The brand new katun was far too big for the 4 of us.
They caught fish with our 16-year-old son in the pond next to the house.
We loved the terrace and the view. Beds are great and very comfortable.
We would definitely love to come back and we recommend this place.
They made us feel like guests in their family, not like customers.
Thank you Zeljko and Mishko for everything!

  3. A truly adventurous family adventure

We absolutely loved our two night stay at Senica Katun. On Brit’s advice, our family of five (kids 13, 7 and 4) stayed one night at Rakovic Katun, hiked across to Senica, stayed two nights at Senica and hiked back to Rakovic.

The hike up one hill, along the ridge and down into the next valley is very doable for adults. It was challenging for the younger kids (especially when we hit driving rain on the ridge line) but they managed it surprisingly well with lots of breaks, playing and chocolate bribery.

The scenery is beautiful – we fell in love with Biogradska National Park and would love to come back and spend more time here.

At Senica, Mishko and Zeljko are two of the loveliest men we have ever met. Brothers, they together look after the small hydro electricity plant right next to their house. They clearly love children and made sure that the younger ones were well catered for. Mishko is a great cook and the kids still talk about “Mishko’s potatoes” – now the only potatoes they will eat.

The katun itself is very modern and new. It has running water, electricity and a wood stove which keeps the whole place very warm.

There is plenty to explore in the valley – walks up the mountain, to the lake and in the forests. It is a magical place!

  4. A stunning mountain retreat with amazing, food, mind boggling nature, excellent food, and wonderful hosts

We had an amazing time at Senica Katun. The views and scenery were absolutely stunning. The traditional katun lodging was excellent. it was clean and quiet under the stars. The fireplace made the evening atmosphere wonderful as well.

We hiked up around the lake the second day and it was about 1.5 hours up and about 40 minutes back. There is a lake that lies farther away, but requires some planning and our little kids were not up for it, so we will save it for the next time.

The hosts Mishko and his wife were excellent hosts. One of my favorite things about this place was the food. It was divine,. The burek was the best Ive had in all of the Balkans. The meat dishes and gulash were amazing as well. Everything was locally grown and produced and it was a true farm to table experience.

We highly recommend this place. It will be a well deserved rest with a bit of wild adventure.

  5. Great place!

We stayed two nights at Senica Katun. Great place with very friendly hosts! Misho was constantly looking after our happiness and to see if he could help with anything. All was perfect! Including the great food with delicious local fish from the river behind the house! Thank you both for our wonderful stay!
